It only took me a few minutes to finish the game, and I was left wanting more. The lore, atmosphere, and story are very well done. I highly recommend it! ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ♡
Absolutely fair critique. Yeah I really missed the time and place introductory part - mostly because it was defined clearly in my head :). My inspiration was Slavic Mythology (Karachun is an actual slavic spirit of frost). Time is about 900 AD. Now that I think about it, I might add the context as an update.
very cool, i defied winter to prove steadfastness can be an expression of mutual benefit rather than individual survival.
for a longer experience, i would love to see some little indicators showing what choices affect which stats. you don't have to give away all the details-- for example, Reigns handles this sort of thing in an effectively opaque way. good luck with the project.
Thanks! :) Yeah I think so too, choices affecting the stats are a bit inconsistent. Did you miss some type of dice roll mechanic like in Disco Elysium or is it good as it is?
i like dice, but i didn't miss them here. dice are uncertain, & they take control away from the player & introduce emotional notes like surprise, humor, disappointment, futility, the thrill of taking a risk, trying to punch above your weight. those notes support DE's themes very well.
but this game feels dire & resolute, and the choices in each challenges seem less like risky attempts & more like intentional choices. the results of choices being determined by whether or not your stats hit a certain threshold, like in Fallout & Reigns, gives the player a lot more control. this also means the player is more accountable for their (in)ability to complete certain tasks. with what Winterwrath is right now, i think the weight of that accountability works very well.
but ofc, for a longer experience, you might decide that uncertainty feels more fair, or more RPG-y, or emotionally significant.
That’s a really interesting setting! Are the spirits based on the native american culture or another one?
Btw, I made a small podcast episode substack and talk about your game in it.
Oh, I'll check that out! :) Inspiration is slavic mythology and pagan rituals dating around 900 AD. Karachun is an actual slavic spirit of frost. Besides encounter with spirits I want to add crafting based on herbs etc. with historic correct medical use. I did so too in my last adventure game The Plague Doctor of Wippra. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1811740/The_Plague_Doctor_of_Wippra/
Hello! Found a little "bug" in the demo above if you can call it that. The Character continually starts walking when i spam clicks. Not sure that it is supposed to do that XD
holy hell the ominous sfx when getting wood and you realize somethings definitely off... the plot is a bit messy, when karachun is introduced it's a little jarring, but the game is 20 minutes; it's understandable that you can't put that much content in. the art is pretty :3
What an incredible little game. The sound effects and music are incredible and really add to the atmosphere. Thank you for sharing. I'm curious about the other endings!
For what this was, it was not too shabby at all! What a splendid story this game has. The graphics are also pretty fly and I love the RPG/Point and click adventure type mechanics. I can see this game going places for sure! Made a video on it.

Fantastic lore and mechanics. Hopefully it will be completed and we can buy it on steam. You got my follow on both platforms <3
Oh, thank you! I'd like to recommend my previous adventure game The Plague Doctor of Wippra. You can find it on Steam and GOG.

this was wonderful; super beautiful & atmospheric, the writing n lore is so interesting, i'd love to see where this goes!! so so cool
Fantastic story and game! I do wish the game showed which choice cause which attribute, maybe the icon next to each answer. Overall great job!
What a interesting game. I would love to see more of what this game has in store for us.
A little gameplay, a little critique ;)

This was beautifully done! I loved this, it was absolutely immersive and enjoyable.
Really amazing writing and suspenseful experience!! I really hope you get to make the full RPG <3
I hope so too! :) But I can only make it through a Kickstarter I guess and the success depends on how many people I can reach out to before.

This was so awesome, would be amazing to have a full game!
Cool :)
i love this game and i need more
Really fun game and very pretty. Would the full game revolve around folklore gods and horror?
Yes. I thought this game could serve like an introduction of Zarya becoming a shaman mediate/summon/battling spirits in the full game.

Awesome game!
Thanks! I fixed this bug now. :)

Absolutely beautiful!!! I'm dying to see more.

Thank you and thanks for playing! 😊
What an incredible little game. The sound effects and music are incredible and really add to the atmosphere. Thank you for sharing. I'm curious about the other endings!
Aw, thanks a lot! :)
Good game
Really cool you do that! Now I want to play it.
Nice concept. The end have no originality, we know how it when he propose the choice..
Nice graphics, cool atmosphere, the only thing that bother me is sometimes you need to made some choices but it's pure supposition..
thanks for the share.
Ps: I 'm a composer if you need it .....
There are more endings than you might have realized ;)
Man, this is so amazing! I like the visuals especially. Good work! 👍

Thanks a lot, was fun to watch! :)
Really good visuals and writing! It reminds me a lot of Disco Elysium.
Thanks a lot! :)
